“There’s not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle.” Robert Alden
I came to this quote indirectly and I believe it pairs nicely with something I heard recently from Deepak Chopra. He was sharing a story about a candle in the noon day sun. As he described the candle with its flame flickering, I could see it in my minds eye. He went on to say that quickly, the flame starts to vanish and it’s only the bright sun that we see, not the flame of the candle.
Conversely, if we put that same candle in a dark room, it would be all that we would see, right? We wouldn’t be able to see anything in the room, but the light of the candle. In both quotes, the candle represents something different, but the metaphor still applies.
Life will always have obstacles for us to overcome. We will always have some resistance to all of our struggles. What if we are able to view the obstacles differently? What if we didn’t resist it AND what if we managed to embrace it as not being an obstacle at all, but the way. What if this is an opportunity for us to grow? We can ask ourselves two questions. First, what am I resisting? And second, how could I bring light to this situation by not resisting it, but allowing myself to learn and grow from it? Yup. That’s it! Happy Friday!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
