Me and the ESB

Last night we were up in the lounge of our building eating dinner and playing a fun game. The lounge overlooks midtown Manhattan, which is so beautiful at night. As I was looking out the window, I couldn’t help but notice how much smaller the Empire State Building was compared to all of the buildings of Hudson Yards to its left. They dwarf the ESB.

Phase 1 of Hudson Yards was completed in 2019. The Empire State Building was completed in 1931 and, at that time, it was the world’s tallest building. She towered over most of Manhattan for almost 90 years. The ESB cannot grow, so more buildings will continue to make what once was New York City’s most recognizable and celebrated attraction a little less awe-inspiring.

Buildings can’t grow, but we can. What is your expertise? What could we do to get better? Should we be taking a class, reading up on our subject matter, or hiring a coach? If we are not growing, we should really take a good long look at the ESB and think, that’s me. Let’s ask ourselves, what is the one thing I could be doing that would absolutely make me grow professionally? Then go do it!

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
