“It’s the little things in life that matter most.” ~ Unknown
I was on my board call last night and our chairman asked us to come prepared with a story from our childhood summers. It was joyful to listen to what everyone shared about what their summers as a child were like. It really reminded me about how important the little things really are.
One man mentioned coming to Philly from Connecticut and he experienced a hoagie for the first time. Another man from Canada toured all the amazing national parks, but what he remembered most was a little coin-operated arcade game in Arizona that when you put a quarter in a chicken danced. Another mentioned the summer he worked as a trash collector. He said “I’ve have never worked so hard, been so tired, or smelled so bad!” It was that job that convinced him college was a great next step for him.
It’s the little things in life that matter most. How do we make more of these precious “little things” moments. I remember going out to dinner at Zaberer’s restaurant (we NEVER went out to dinner so this was a BIG treat), fishing with my dad, learning about horse racing at the Atlantic City race track, and catching toads at night in Ocean City, NJ. We think it’s the big things, but it never is. It’s the hoagie. It’s the toads. It’s the silly games. As you head into the weekend, think about slowing down and embracing the little things!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
