A “Do Nothing” Day

Last weekend I was supposed to be in Raleigh with all of my girls visiting a dear friend and her family. We were so excited that the stars aligned for all of us to make the trip—and then Debby came along, Hurricane Debby, that is. Our plans got upended at the last minute and we cancelled our flights. The weekend was now unplanned. Gasp!

Imagine a completely unplanned weekend? When does that ever happen? My daughter’s said, “I’m not planning anything, we are going to have a “do nothing” day!” That sounded great to me and that’s essentially what we did. It’s impossible to do nothing, but we did as much “do nothing” as we could hanging out at my apartment.

What does a “do nothing” day have to do with you and me? Is there a balance we might have missed earlier if we’ve reached the point where a “do nothing” day becomes essential for our health and well-being? What if we added a “do-nothing” hour into each day? Or even 30 minutes! I’m a “burn the candle at both ends” kind of girl, so I am speaking to myself here! It’s Tuesday, and if the idea of a “do nothing” day sounds so glorious to you that you’re pining for it, then perhaps it’s time to make some balance adjustments right now. Just a thought.

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
