If you’re a football fan in the Northeast, yesterday (and Thursday) weren’t particularly good days for you or me, sadly. But I did hear an interview with Saquon Barkley on FOX Sports before the game that really made me think. They were asking him about his move to the Philadelphia Eagles from the New York Giants which sent shockwaves around the NFL—and even he, admittedly, shared, “I kinda hated everyone here,” which goes hand in hand with the rivalry.
Barkley told the reporter, “I definitely made the right move. The way people treat you from top to bottom.
(I) walked in and they said, ‘Your Saquon Barkley.’ I had to make my mind set up again. Like you’re right, I am Saquon Barkley and I gotta get my mind around that again. I gotta get back to being that guy.” WOW! Even Saquon Barkley looses who he is every once in a while and has to be reminded: “I’m Saquon Barkley.”
Neither you nor I are currently a running back in the NFL, but we too can fall into our own shadow. We have self-doubts, fears and uncertainties about our own greatness—YES, GREATNESS! Barkley goes on to say, “People fail to realize we are only human beings. People have ups and downs and you have to fight through that adversity.” The Philadelphia Eagles reminded Saquon, YOUR SAQUON BARKLEY! And today, I am reminding you who you are. Say it out loud, “I am ____!” Remind yourself to live into that greatness. It’s just one thought away and you get to choose which thought you think!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
