On Thursday, Doug and I celebrated 32 years together! Holy smokes, that’s a long time. I remember saying early in our relationship, “I can’t wait until the time comes when I have known you longer than I haven’t known you!” Honestly, I wish I had never not known Doug! He’s amazing and my BFF.
One thing we do every anniversary is go over three things: what are we doing well, what aren’t we doing well, and what needs to change. It’s a great exercise for couples, but also for just about anyone. I call it, “Our annual level set,” and it doesn’t happen at that crazy time of year when everyone is “level-setting.” It’s just a reminder that there is good, not so good, and needs improvement. Awareness is key.
Today is a reminder that we can level-set any time we want. It doesn’t have to be the first of the year, the first of the month, or even on a Monday. If we ask ourselves or someone else, “How can I improve?” we are acknowledging that we can up our game. But I think the most important part of the, “good, not so good, and needs improvement,” is the “good.” We don’t always get a pat on the back or pat ourselves on the back for what we are doing well, so please don’t skip over the, “What am I doing well?” I want your heart to smile today!
Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
