Motivational Monday!

Saturday night, Doug and I decided to try a local restaurant, the Fork Hill Kitchen, in Union City, New Jersey, and we are really glad we did! The food was outstanding, the restaurant was charming, and the staff was 10 out of 10.

I don’t normally do “restaurant reviews” but I learned a lot that night about eating at a family-owned local restaurant. Ed, the owner, greeted us at the front door and we immediately felt welcomed. He came by our table later to check in on us and found out we had never been to the Fork Hill Kitchen! He took the time to tell us all about the menu, the chef, and most importantly—how to get parking when we come back next time! There’s a noticeable shift in a person’s behavior when they are an owner rather than just an employee.

Ownership inspires accountability, initiative, and a greater commitment to outcomes. I can’t make you an owner today, but imagine what would shift if you owned even just a small percentage of the business? Look at it both ways, for you but also for those who work for you. Ownership OF ANY KIND will “inspires accountability, initiative, and a greater commitment to outcomes.” It’s human nature. This can apply to our life and those around us. Ed showed me that brilliantly Saturday night. It’s a great lesson. Now we all need to see how we can apply it.

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!

P.S. If you go to Fork Hill Kitchen, Doug would recommend the pork chop, it will remind you of Fred Flintstone, and you MUST get the warm apple crisp with the most amazing vanilla gelato!
