Making A List…

It’s the season of lists, right? Santa has a list, everyone in your house likely has a list. Some are giving their list, others are just receiving the lists. These lists are usually filled with “wants,” but occasionally there are a few “needs” that make the list. Our lists are usually centered around those we love.

Today, I believe we should make another list. If you are in a position to do so, will you bravely make a list of those who might need your help? This might be your physical help or your financial help. Size isn’t what’s as important here as is thought and effort. Some of the people on this list you may know, and some may be perfect strangers. And in a year like 2020, if we are only focused on our own list, we may have missed the opportunity to really experience true joy.

Here are a few ideas: Has someone recently lost a loved one, do you belong to a religious institution (call them, they usually know those in need), reach out to your local non-profits— especially those that #feedthehungry, is there someone you know who is struggling through this economy? Please share other ideas via email. It doesn’t matter how bad 2020 was, if we are still standing, then perhaps we should be the first to lend a helping hand. I don’t know about you, but most of what is on the lists in my home are simply “wants,” and I’ll be a lot happier on Christmas morning if I can check off a few real “needs” for someone else. Be well. Stay safe.

With Gratitude,

Beth
