I don’t know where you are but, here in the northeast, we are getting snow—yet again. It’s another day that we are likely sequestered in the house until the roads can be travelled on safely. It may sound like I’m complaining, but I’m not. I like the snow. Watching it fall is actually beautiful, but not everyone feels that way. For some it’s adding to the weight of this pandemic. Regardless of how we feel about the weather, we can all benefit from a boost in happiness right about now.
There are a million ways to increase our own happiness, but I’m going to challenge all of us to simply focus on three. And our conduit for this happiness proliferation is going to be love. Here are our three tasks:
1. An act of love for someone we love.
2. An act of love for someone we don’t know.
3. An act of love for ourselves.
That’s it. Simple. If you want to make yourself happy, go make someone else happy! It’s crazy how that works. Giving is better than receiving. None of these have to cost money. It could be a hand written note or a phone call. It can even be anonymous. It’s the intentional act of loving someone else on purpose that creates the desired effect: happiness. Let me know what you did and how you felt. I’m guaranteeing success! Lets’ Go! We got this!
With Gratitude,
Beth
P.S. Did I ever tell you why I use the very grammatically incorrect statement, “We got this”? Ahh, a post for another day!
