Yesterday or Tomorrow?

“There are only two days of the year that nothing can be done. One is called “yesterday” and the other is called “tomorrow,” so today is the right day to love, believe, do, and mostly live.” The Dalai Lama

We are about to head into a new year. 2022 is on the doorstep and we get to decide how we are going to live this new and beautiful year. We can and will talk about resolutions, goal setting, dreams, plans, habits, etc., but before that runaway train leaves the station, I think it’s important to settle into the mindset that is most important that we can anchor ourselves in – the present. The present is where peace, joy, and happiness reside.

What does living in the present even mean? Let’s take a look at a resolution or goal we have for 2022—let’s choose weight loss, the #1 resolution every year. When we think of this resolution, it’s likely that we go to a negative place mentally like, “Why did I do this to myself again! I should have eaten better during the holidays.” Or, “What if I don’t take off the weight? This is so frustrating.” Both statements were about “yesterday” and “tomorrow.” A “today” statement would sound like this, “I had such a fabulous holiday with family and friends, I enjoyed every moment! I am grateful for all of the time we had together celebrating with great food and drinks. I’m so blessed.”

There are two days that nothing can be done: yesterday and tomorrow. These two days bring us great angst and regret, so why are we doing that to ourselves? Live in today. When your mind wanders to yesterday or tomorrow, lasso that thought and bring it back to the present. It’s all about awareness and it’s the key to a happier life. For 2022, I want you and I to be successful, but I really want us to happy, too! Happy comes first, always!

To the BEST 2022,

Beth

P.S. The year long study of The Wake Up Call will begin on January 10th! We will meet once a month and keep you on track for whatever goals you’ve decided to put in place. The cost is $49 for the whole year! Everyone should sign up, even if you don’t have the book yet. More to come next week!

P.P.S. January 25th from 6-8 pm, I will host an online Goal Setting class. If you’ve never learned how to write game-changing goals, this class is for you.

All of this will be on my website, next week. We’ve had a few cases of Covid here, so I’m on the slow boat this week!
